Sci-riffic® was originally created in 2011 by John Burfoot. Its purpose is to provide quality teaching and learning opportunities and resources for students, teachers and individuals around science and technology.
John is currently a part time primary school teacher, specialising in STE(A)M programs (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics), with the Catholic Education Office, Sydney and the Department of Education. His expertise is working with teachers and students in the field of educational robotics and electronics.
John has facilitated hundreds of robotics and electronics workshops to teachers and students across NSW, including State, Catholic and Independent schools. He has consulted for LEGO® Australia, Moore Educational Pty Ltd, and the Southern Region Catholic Education Office, Sydney.
John has presented and spoken at numerous educational conferences both within Australia and abroad, including the Association of Independent Schools of NSW, ICT Educators of NSW, Macquarie ICT Innovations Centre, Sydney Robotics for Coding & STEM Education Meetup, the NSW Priority Schools Program’s Equity Conference, the National Futures Schools Expo, the LEGO Education Engineering Conference in San Diego, and the ICRA2018: Robotics in Education Forum in Brisbane.
